I liked this picture; it explained how I feel sometimes.  Especially given the past few months when daily life consisted of bitchiness, moaning and groaning because of cramps, depression, feelings of despair.  That Mirena really did some numbers on me!

It was exactly one month ago tomorrow that I had Mirena removed.  Last Tuesday, I started getting a little anxious AND  biotchy again.  I was in the living room working on the internet, Tim asked me something, I jumped through my teeth at him.  And, I immediately thought, “Gosh, where did that come from?”  I had to apologize to him because the truth was, I just felt so daggone jittery, irritable.  I had been feeling so much better!   It was getting close to my period, so I decided to take the advice of my PCP.  I snatched the Lexapro bottle out of the closet (I no longer take it, but am on Wellbutrin) and took half a pill before going to bed (5 mg).  The next morning, I took another half.  For the next three days, I took half a pill in the morning, half at night.  It seemed to help my anxiety.  This is how I was originally told several years ago to take the Lexapro to help symptoms of PMDD.

Friday came.  I felt crampy.  Saturday, oh garsh!  It was even worse.  Sunday, and I was in the bed until 2:00.  Monday came, and I was STILL cramping!  This period seemed to be the worst I’ve experienced in quite awhile, perhaps a year and a half.  I hardly had a flow while on Mirena.  Oh yes, I had cramps but not for four days!!  From what I have read, the first period after Mirena removal is the worst.  I’m feeling more like myself today.  I am noticing a huge change in  my behavior and personality.

This is no lie…  or exaggeration.  But, my tolerance to stress was horrible.  Anything & everything just set me off, sometimes to the point of swearing/profanity.  I hate to admit that, but PMS/PMDD sure changed my behavior.  I could not handle frustration or stress at all.  My nerves were on edge 24/7.  I felt a knot in my gut all the time, and sometimes I felt as if I couldn’t fully catch my breath.  Those feelings appear to be gone.  I still have a residual headache, but it has decreased by 98%.

Life seems to becoming a little more “normal” for this PCOS’er.

Save Me a Seat…

Have you ever heard someone about to have surgery say to other wls patients:  “Save me a seat on the loser’s bench?”  Or, after the surgery has taken place, a support group member might greet them with “Welcome to the Loser’s Bench!”  A few years ago, my friend Scott decided to take it a step further.  He actually created a graphic of a bench, and personalized it for people who were about to have surgery.  (GREAT idea!)

I met him after I had my surgery.  I felt kind of left out, so one day he presented me with my very own “LOSER’S BENCH”.  I forgot all about it until he posted some pictures on the forum of me in the past few years.  I wanted to post it and show the bench to you!  See, there REALLY IS  a loser’s bench… !  You’re welcome to sit on mine anytime.

Freebies, freebies, freebies!  Who wants freebies?  January 26th – I am going into my third year of blogging.  My goodness! Has it really been that long?  Seems like time sure has flown by… but in order to celebrate, we have some G-I-V-E-A-W-A-Y-S!  Here are the prizes to be won:

Building Block Vitamins -  a month’s worth package consisting of:  multivitamins, calcium citrate, iron (15/30 mg non chewable or 30 mg chewable) and B12 spray.

Kay’s Naturals – 3 winners will each receive one case of Kay’s Naturals Cookie Bites which came out recently

Slimpressions shapewear garment of choice

How To Enter:  there are several ways to be entered.  Contest begins midnight of January 20th, 2010 and will end midnight of January 26th.

* Making a comment anywhere on the Recovering Fatty site will get you an entry (one entry)
* Making a comment anywhere on the RF06 site will get you another entry (one entry)
* Send an email with a short blurb about yourself to recoveringfatty[at] gmail [dotcom]

Let’s see if I can name a few of the highlights since I first started blogging (some you may remember):

* Asked my brother to set up a blog for me. He laughed and refused because after all, with a name like Recovering Fatty, how could that not be embarrassing?

* My nephew, Ben, helped me start the blog by setting up my webhost and purchasing my domain name (bless his heart, he is still helping me)

* I didn’t start out small with a free Wordpress template.  No, I jumped head first. Sometimes I wonder if I didn’t hit my head, get a concussion or do some sort of brain damage.  Maybe I’m just crazy.  Blogging your entire life on the internet is certainly “out there”.  I’d quit, but I have too much money invested!

* Went from Wordpress to Joomla, lost all my content, had to manually add all the articles again.

* Started adding vendors or company’s ads.

* Joined Labrada Nutrition’s blog to write about bariatric afterlife.  *My longstanding joke about being a Lean Body Girl finally became reality!  That’s my fave.

* Started giveaways (which are my favorite because I love freebies!)

* Added a message board.  For many months, it was just “my filing cabinet”, a place where I could gather my files.  Bless their hearts, I finally got a few friends who joined and we’ve been a little community ever since!

* Added a chat room but we’ve only used it like 5 times.  But, I am very ALL THE WAY if you haven’t noticed.  I just HAD to have one cause it seemed like THE THING to do.

* Purchased a new domain name, RF06, which stands for Recovering Fatty 2006 (the year of my weight loss surgery)

* Downsized the Recovering Fatty domain to a personal blog only, and went with Wordpress

* Upgraded RF06 to Joomla which did mean losing some articles (but, RF06 is designated specifically for products, reviews, an helps for wls folks)

I have no idea where the next year will take us, but it’s exciting.  Stay tuned to find out!
